QuickBooks displays error messages like “QuickBooks Payroll not working,” “QuickBooks Payroll connection error,” or “QuickBooks Payroll Network Problem” whenever it encounters network connectivity problems. The error messages make it abundantly clear that there is a network problem and that QuickBooks Payroll cannot connect to the internet; therefore, to fix this problem, you must first address the network problems. While you solve payroll problems with QuickBooks you may face some errors, including error 1310 and error 15301, and that can solve easily without any hassle.
The Following might be the Reasons you are Facing Payroll Not Working Issues:
- If you are sending payroll in multi-user mode.
- Your application’s security certificate is not valid.
- Typical problems with your internet connection
- If a Network Time Out error prevents the application from connecting to the server.
- Your computer’s date and time are incorrect.
- The firewall on your computer is preventing QuickBooks from connecting to the internet.
Checklist Before Proceeding with Troubleshooting:
- Check to see if your computer’s time and date settings are accurate; if not, make the necessary changes and restart your computer.
- Make sure you have the most recent payroll tax table downloaded. Employees, Get Payroll Updates and Update to get the most current payroll tax table.
- QuickBooks must be set to Single User mode. Click the File menu and choose Switch to Single User Mode to enter Single User mode.
- To send payroll, you must have a current payroll subscription. Check to see if your payroll subscription is still active.
- Make sure the QuickBooks application is running on the most recent update.
- If not, see if you can use your web browser to access a secure website like www.Google.com; if not, try resetting your router to its default settings.

Troubleshooting some Common Network Issues
Delete the browsing history from Internet Explorer:
- Launch your web browser, Internet Explorer.
- Click Browsing History under the General tab.
- Verify Internet Files and Temporary Internet Files.
- After selecting Delete, click OK.
- Send payroll, if you can.
Flushing the DNS using Command Prompt:
- To open the Run window, simultaneously press the Windows and R keys.
- Type CMD into the Run window’s text box and press Enter or OK.
- Punch in ipconfig /flushdns.
- On your keyboard, press the Enter key now.
- If you are still unable to send payroll, try again by following the steps below:
Exclude Revocation from Internet Explorer:
- In Internet Explorer, select Tools.
- Select the Advanced Tab under Internet Options.
- Uncheck “Check for publishers revocation” and “Check for server certificate revocation” under the Security tab, then click OK.
- Switch off your computer.
- Send some payroll information.
- If that doesn’t help, follow the instructions below.
Restore the Advanced settings of Internet Explorer:
- Close the QuickBooks program.
- Internet Options can be found by clicking Tools in Internet Explorer.
- Click Restore Advanced Settings under the Advanced tab.
- Check that Use TLS 1.0 is selected in the settings and that Use TLS 1.1 and Use TLS 1.2 are not selected.
- After selecting OK, close Internet Explorer.
- Try sending payroll information after restarting your computer.
You may need to perform a clean reinstall of the QuickBooks application or attempt to use the application in Safe Mode with Networking if none of the troubleshooting steps mentioned above help you resolve the QuickBooks Payroll not Working error.
